I am a former Primary Care Paramedic with experience in prehospital research appraisal, harm reduction, first responder peer support, education/training, clinical case management, and crisis intervention. My passions center around trauma-informed care, first responder peer support, mental health resiliency, and empowering others to feel confident and effective in responding to emergencies.
While working in the Safe Injection Sites, I have been able to bring my expertise in basic life support, emergency care, and overdose prevention to staff at may organizations across Toronto. This includes training peer workers and overdose prevention workers located on site of shelters and other programs that see a high incidence of overdoses, on the frontlines of the drug poisoning crisis.
I currently work as a Mobile Crisis Worker with a community mental health crisis team. This is part of the new initiative that sends mental health specialists to crisis calls that come through 9-1-1 or 2-1-1 instead of police officers in some regions of the city.
